Good Things to Know When Evaluating Telluride Vacation Rentals

Filed under: travel — Tags: evaluating, good, rentals, telluride, things, vacation — libertees @ 1:03 am May 21, 2012

When evaluating Telluride vacation rentals, it helps to understand the layout of the ski resort, the unique characteristics of the towns of Mountain Village and Telluride, as well as the type of accommodations found in each of these sister Colorado towns.

The core of Mountain Village is the heart of the Telluride Ski Resort with other trails dropping into the town of Telluride. The village core is located mid-mountain at 9,545 feet, offering easy access to all levels of terrain and spectacular panoramic views of the San Juan Mountains. The town of Telluride, elevation 8,750 feet, is nestled in a box canyon surrounded by majestic 13,000 foot peaks. A free gondola connects the 2 towns featuring magnificent views while eliminating pollution, noise, and congestion, all in less time than it would take to drive.

A majority of the condo and hotel Mountain Village vacation rentals are ski-in, ski-out, or within walking distance of the village core, while many private homes are located on the slopes. In addition, free taxi service is available to and from local destinations from 7 AM until midnight. Down the mountain, the town of Telluride is only 12 blocks by 6 blocks, which makes all Telluride vacation rentals within walking distance of the ski resort lifts. In addition, free bus service runs throughout the town daily, from 7 AM until midnight.

Mountain Village and Telluride vacation rentals reflect the distinctive styles and personalities of the respective towns. Blending rugged beauty with contemporary comfort in muted earth tones, Mountain Village features a well-planned European-styled pedestrian core of stone and timber surrounded by a neighborhood of luxurious condominiums and multi-million dollar log homes.

In contrast, Telluride’s rich and historic Old West mining past is woven and preserved in this rustic and vibrant town, featuring bright and bold Victorian buildings and clapboard storefronts housing world-class dining, independent art galleries, and welcoming old-time bars, and featuring an assortment of lodging options.

Your group and lifestyle are also important in your evaluation of area vacation rentals. Mountain Village has a variety of shops, a few restaurants and bars, and one grocery store. Most services are located in the pedestrian-friendly Mountain Village core, which is accessible on foot, skis, gondola, car and free local taxi service. The 2.5 mile trip to Telluride is an easy 15 minute ride from the village core via the free gondola, which also operates from 7 AM until midnight.

While daytime recreation and skiing centers around the village core, nighttime activities are typically concentrated in Telluride. Telluride is the county seat for San Miguel County and is the downtown to Mountain Village’s suburbia flavor. The town includes the county courthouse, 2 grocery stores, the only movie theater, restaurants, shops, and bars. You may also wish to consider that bars close as late as 2 AM, however the gondola closes at midnight (later for special events).

Mountain Village and Telluride vacation rentals include a variety of private homes, condominiums, hotels, and bed and breakfast rooms. As a planned community incorporated in 1987, Mountain Village vacation rentals combine Old World charm with high-tech alpine elegance. If you have a large group or family, you may consider renting a luxury private home. You will find a number of first-class condominiums and hotels in the Mountain Village core.

Vacation rentals in Telluride offer a wider variety, from beautifully restored private Victorian homes to luxury condominiums, as well as affordable condos, hotel and bed & breakfast options. Telluride area accommodations provide convenience, but tend to be smaller and more compact than lodging in Mountain Village. In addition, the average age is older for rental properties in the town of Telluride.

Breathtaking beauty, world-class skiing, a variety of activities, and the accommodations to suit your needs and taste make Telluride a remarkable vacation destination for everyone. Whether you choose a spacious log mansion on the ski slopes in Mountain Village or a modest hotel room in the buzz of Telluride, a car is unnecessary to get around from all Mountain Village and Telluride vacation rentals. Access to the slopes and both towns is free and easy regardless of where you choose to stay.

Ten Travel Tips For Your Great Florida Vacation

Filed under: travel — Tags: florida, great, ten, tips, travel, vacation — libertees @ 1:03 am May 18, 2012

Whether traveling by plane, train or car the best planned vacations offer the smoothest and safest trip. There is so much to do before going away on a trip, but if planned out your trip will come together with few, if any, complications.

Here are ten traveling tips that will help you plan your vacation:

1. Decide on a vacation destination that fits your family’s lifestyle, desire and budget. If you like the sun then maybe Miami beach is the place for you. If you are more partial to the outdoor adventures then an Alaskan cruise may be in order. Learn all that you can about the area that you have decided upon traveling to. Research the best season to travel to your destination. Take into consideration such things as weather, popularity, school vacations, etc. In some states the seasons can play a major role on your vacation. As well, school vacations are an ideal time to take a vacation. However, to avoid the crowds planning to take a few days when there is not a scheduled school vacation may be a good thing to do.

2. Money. If you cannot afford to take a trip without struggling it would be better to put a little bit of money aside each week instead of going into deep debt. It would most likely be more stressful for you to have to worry about finances, which would defeat the whole purpose of a stress-free vacation.

3. If traveling by plane or train booking your travel arrangements well in advance will likely offer you the greatest savings in transportation fare. If you will be needing accommodations booking well ahead of your vacation time could also net you some savings. There are some wonderful online resources to book directly with savings offers available. Do not be afraid to book in this manner. Be sure, however, that the plans that you make are done to your liking before hitting that finalizing button.

4. Be a list maker! Making lists is a great way to be sure that you did not forget anything. Take a few minutes alone in a quiet and relaxing spot and write down everything that you need to do to plan your trip. Include in this list anything that you need to do there. You might even be able to take care of some things while you are still at home before you go, such as reservations to a popular restaurant. Make a list of what to pack and things to do before you leave home.

5. If it is just you and your partner and you have kids, make arrangements to leave them with a responsible party. This goes for any pets that you may have also.

6. Get online and print out any coupons that you may be able to use once you get to your destination. There are some great discount offerings available for restaurants, entertainment and other attractions.

7. Before you sign anything either at the train depot, the airport or the car rental agency make sure that you read it thoroughly and understand it. Do not be afraid or feel ignorant in asking questions. It is a lot better to ask a question than to get socked with a bill later on for something that you did not understand.

8. Check your health out before you go on your trip. See your doctor and obtain any medication prescriptions that you may need before leaving on your trip.

9. Call and be sure that all of your reservations are in place the evening before you are to leave. You do not want to have any surprises once you arrive at your take off point. It would be a stressful situation to arrive in Miami and find that you did not book the room correctly or that they did not process it correctly.

10. Sleep. So often we get so excited before going on a trip that getting some needed shut eye is almost impossible. If you cannot sleep during the night then take a short nap during the day.

Survey Says: A Cruise Vacation Heats up Romance for Couples

Filed under: Blog — Tags: Couples, cruise, Heats, romance, Says, Survey, vacation — @ 1:30 pm February 29, 2012

Miami (PRWEB) February 10, 2012

For couples looking to rekindle the spark in their romance, the sea is calling with a million ways to fall in love again. According to a recent survey commissioned by Royal Caribbean International*, most Americans (90%) astoundingly ranked sex as the top activity on their cruise itinerary. Respondents also consider cruises to be the most romantic type of vacation while offering a better value for their dollar (84%). More than four out of five respondents also say that a cruise with their partner is more romantic than a land-based vacation, with a whopping 98% opting for an exotic cruise ? to Bermuda or Europe, perhaps ? as a special way to celebrate a special moment or occasion, such as Valentine?s Day or an anniversary.

Royal Caribbean offers an endless array of options for keeping the passion alive. With 22 innovative ships, calling on more than 270 destinations in 72 countries across six continents, there is something for every couple ? whether they envision a romantic epicurean experience with their significant other, exploring a port of call or simply sharing an intimate moment in the privacy of their stateroom. Based on the survey results, other reasons why couples should consider a cruise vacation with Royal Caribbean include:

????Love Liner: The vast majority of survey respondents say they left their last cruise feeling more ?connected? with their partner (80%), being more in love with their partner (67%) and feeling more attracted to their partner (65%). Royal Caribbean can supply the ship ? all you need is your mate.

????Relationship Rx: Is it possible to cruise your way to a better relationship? Perhaps. Nearly three-quarters of respondents say that spending time with their significant other on their most recent cruise improved their relationship.

????Port of Love: Respondents indicated that they are more likely to enjoy a number of romantic activities on a cruise than on a land-based vacation, including watching the sunset (72%), strolling in the moonlight (58%), stargazing (56%) and sharing a romantic dinner ? deux (55%).

????The Motion of the Ocean: Half of the respondents say they are more likely to be intimate on a cruise than on a land-based vacation. And not only is sex more frequent on a cruise vacation, but many (62%) report that the sex on their last cruise was better than normal. Perhaps not surprisingly, night time is the right time, or most popular time of day to be amorous on a cruise (31%), while 28% prefer any time of day ? morning, noon or night.

????Nautical Naughtiness: 24% cite their balcony as the place onboard where they would most like to be intimate ? other than their stateroom, of course, and 58% are more likely to pack lingerie or sexy underwear for a cruise than a land-based vacation. For an astounding 90%, sex ranks as the top activity on their cruise itinerary, ahead of sitting by the pool (84%), enjoying nightlife options (83%) and shopping (70%).

For a limited time, there is one more reason why Royal Caribbean should rank high as a vacation choice for couples. During the ?Month of Love,? lovebirds who book a cruise to Bermuda or Europe by Feb. 29 will receive a free ?Romance Package? onboard ? including roses, chocolate covered strawberries and sparkling wine. Ships visiting Bermuda stay overnight in port, so couples can enjoy one-of-a-kind experiences like sunset glass-bottom boat tours and snorkeling by moonlight. For guests booking a European cruise, no other part of the world has more memorable moments for two such as visits to legendary landmarks, gorgeous coastlines and charming towns. Royal Caribbean offers more than 100 itineraries for every romantic possibility.

Royal Caribbean has been committed to answering the call of the sea for the past 40 years, sailing every major sea in the world. With its history of creativity and innovation ? delivering many at-sea industry firsts such as ice rinks, rock-climbing walls, zip lines, surfing simulators and Broadway shows ? the cruise line continues to strive to deliver to guests an unforgettable and rejuvenating experience that appeals to vacationers of all ages.

Royal Caribbean International is a global cruise brand with 22 innovative ships, calling on more than 270 destinations in 72 countries across six continents. The line also offers unique cruise tour land packages in Alaska, Canada, Dubai, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

Royal Caribbean provides a world-class vacation experience with a wide range of signature onboard amenities, entertainment and award-winning family programming. Fighting over vacation! Frustrated! Help!?

Filed under: Blog — Tags: Fighting, Frustrated, Help, over, vacation — @ 1:30 pm February 5, 2012

Question by Brooke: Fighting over vacation! Frustrated! Help!?
Alright I’ll try to keep this short and sweet, so my boyfriend wants to go visit his best friend in another state for our vacation and I want to go somewhere tropical. I love his best friend and girlfriend, they are some of my closest friends as well. Let’s just say where they live isn’t my idea of a “vacation”.

It would cost about $ 400 / person to fly there. We would have a place to stay for part of the trip, but still pay for a ton of food, activities, hotel etc. yet, obviously the cheaper choice.

I really want to go to an all-inclusive resort. Possibly in Mexico, Bahamas, Caribbean , you get the picture – tropical (Hell, I’d even go to Florida). I’m not asking to go to this marvelous 5 star resort or anything like that. The only reason I say all inclusive is because he said it’d be too expensive otherwise. I’m planning for three months in advance and am finding prices around $ 700-$ 800 for a 7 day stay in decent all inclusive resorts.

I am also willing to ask the couple to come along with us (lowering the price, by sharing a room) but they say they can’t afford any trip.

We need a mediator. Am I being too selfish?

Best answer:

Answer by joeyc
I’m with you……..Head for the tropics…….There are so many great deals out there, and in the long run it will cost you less.

If you were to go visit your friends, the air fare + all additional expenses will far exceed any inclusive vacation you can find.

If your friends cannot afford to go, then plan something for another time with them.

“Don’t forget your sunscreen”…………………

Vacation decision :Cruise to Caribbean or “All-Inclusive ” Resort?

Question by KG: Vacation decision :Cruise to Caribbean or “All-Inclusive ” Resort?
My wife and I can’t decide which to do. We’ve been on a cruise twice , but never to a “all-inclusive resort”.

Not big alcohol drinkers, so having the “open bar” doesn’t matter.

Please submit some pros & cons for each if you can.

Best answer:

Answer by Joy in the Morning
I went on a cruise awhile back and really disliked it. The stop overs at various islands were awesome, but being trapped on the boat for most of the time was dreadful to me. Especially since there was little to do on the boat outside of drinking, gambling and bingo.

I say, go for the resort. You can have a nice stay and still plan sight-seeing excursions if you like.
