Thailand is a very preferred travel destination, which isn’t surprising considering how varied travel in Thailand is. Different regions of the kingdom have untouched beauties to find out from the snow tipped mountains in the north, the white wonderful beaches with wonderfully clear waters of the southern islands to the Buddhist culture and customs. That is not even to say the amazing nightlife of spots like Bangkok and Pattaya, if that’s more your style. The good news is that all have Thailand hotels for you to remain at.

Wherever you go, especially if you plan to visit numerous different regions in Thailand, you’ll need to find good Thailand hotels. This is best done prior to your trip, as a well planned trip will make travel in Thailand more memorable, pleasurable and much less nerve-wrangling.

In this planning stage, you can do some research on the places you would like to visit in Thailand, like the floating market just outside Bangkok, the pretty beaches of Koh Samui and Phuket, or Chiang Mai to experience the culture of the hill clans. You’ll need a hotel Thailand for every location you visit.

Something a large amount of folks like to do when they travel in Thailand is see the elephants. In some places they will make the elephants dance for you, in others you can go trekking on them in the lush jungle and then wash the elephant in the brook, when you are finished. There are some truly glorious experiences available in Thailand. Make sure that you have a good hotel Thailand, wherever you make a decision to travel.

It might be a shame solely to visit one place in this various country, so take advantage of the infrastructure and transportation for travel in Thailand. Customer Reviews

The Rama Gardens was an excellent hotel. The service, restaurants, and amenities were excellent for the prices charged. I stayed there for 9 days. They are farther from the city center, but as a female traveling alone, I felt that made it more safe. The grounds were lovely and the security excellent. I would highly recommend it. I plan to stay there again next year.

Customer Reviews

Very good hotel, nice rooms, nice pool, good restaurant service. Complementary pick-up from Suvanabumi airport very fast and friendly. Ideal if you just stop-over and want to relax. Not the ideal place for Bangkok sight-seeing as to far out of the city.

The Internet: Helping you Avoid the Loneliness of Travel

Most people would acknowledge that travelling is one of life’s most precious joys. While home is certainly where the heart is, being able to visit new places and see new sights is a crucial part of broadening your life experience and opening your eyes to unknown cultures. Thankfully, the last half of the twentieth century has seen technology advance to the stage where nearly everyone can travel with ease and in comfort.

Whether you’re simply taking a weekend away at a country cottage in New England, or planning to go on a long-haul trip to Thailand, your vacation is sure to excite you with wonders untold and joys anew. However, while taking a vacation can unlock some of the wonders of the world, travelling can also be a lonely experience – and not just if you’re travelling alone.

For instance, while many people long to get away from their everyday routine, you might be one of those people who find routines comforting. And if you have a fear of flying, travelling to your destination might turn out to be a heavily stressful experience rather than a peaceful break. What’s more, large hotel rooms can often seem impersonal and invite feelings of restlessness or homesickness in you.

However, if you’re looking for a way to prevent vacation anxiety, you might find your saviour in an unlikely place – the internet. The advent of many travel sites and social networking sites on the web in recent years has meant that more and more people can share their holiday experiences with each other. But travel blogs and holiday sites can do more than just offer you reviews of hotel resorts or ratings of local restaurants – they can offer you real, valuable advice on how best to overcome your fears and apprehensions when you’re on a holiday.

The solution to this can be simpler than you might think: many travellers rely on taking simple home comforts with them – for example, your favourite pair of slippers or your most comfortable pyjamas – no matter how badly they’re falling apart. It’s also a good idea to take some of your favourite hobbies or pastimes with you on holiday to beat any feelings of loneliness that might creep up on you; if you play an instrument, for instance, take it with you. String and woodwind instruments, like guitars, violins or flutes, are fairly convenient to transport – and unless you’re embarking on a backpacking tour of Europe and need to travel light – there’s no excuse not to take them along with you.

If you’re the sort of person who abhors soulless hotel rooms, then why not take some items from your home with you to help brighten up your room: simple things like family photographs or your bedside alarm clock can help make the atmosphere around you more familiar and welcoming, and can do wonders in curing any feeling of homesickness that might arise.

Since we now live in the internet age, many hotels let you share travel advice and tips online. Homewood Hotels, for example, provides a bulletin board, where past guests can share their experiences of their stay – from restaurants to places to visit or avoid – and pass on advice and tips to potential guests, helping them get the most out of their holiday. So, regardless of whether you’re spending Easter weekend in Houston or Hawaii, you’ll find the internet is your friend when it comes to beating travel anxiety.

Luxury in Thailand hotel reviews

Filed under: hotels — Tags: hotel, luxury, Reviews, thailand — libertees @ 4:02 pm April 28, 2010

Honestly speaking

Anyone who knows anything about the subtleties of a language can tell immediately if a review has been-let’s say “planted”. Some companies are obviously planting these fake reviews in there to tip the balances. Fortunately with a bit of an imagination we can usually tell the fakes.

For example: When you see the following review (A) for a particular five star luxury hotel mixed with a lot of other reviews stating the exact opposite i.e. (B), then you realize (A) must be a plant.

(A) “This hotel is truly fabulous, we flew in from Thailand to stay at this hotel; the décor of hotel was very clean and modern. We had luxury rooms which were spacious, modern and beautiful. The service was very friendly and excellent. I will definitely stay here again!!” Way to go [Name deleted Hotel] Five luxury STARS!!

(B) “Refurbished rooms” are large but with old carpets, curtains and furniture. Balcony furniture is cheap plastic, weeds were growing through tiles. Old bathroom fittings with tiny baths.  Concierge service is indifferent. Pool area is awful. Staff couldn’t care less when you ask them anything. Lobby old needs a complete makeover. No way five star.

Even without reading the other 25 or so poor or average reviews, you can see immediately which one is NOT telling the truth. Conclusion: don’t stay at these hotels.

Service with a smile-Thailand

On the other hand when it comes to service, the degree of service is a grey area for a lot of people. It really depends on what they are used to. Most of the service industries in western countries like USA and the UK etc are famed for their lousy service. Of course the saying that the “rot starts at the top” is usually true to this and “pay peanuts get monkeys” is another good analogy. But this really only applies to the western cultures where the ability to serve is almost non-existent. Another recent review I read (below) was a bit of an eye-opener; and it goes to show that there are people out there who realize the potential and who know that with good management skills a service worthy establishment is actually possible. “As is common in Australian hotels, the staff are nice but the overall management is lacking. Hotel management here frequently demonstrates to the patron that its priorities are the dollar before the service. While we all know this is the reality of business the key to being a great service provider is making it feel like the opposite. Words well spoken-now how much longer will it take.

Thailand hotels

On the other side of the coin, you only have to take a trip to places like Thailand or Japan to realize that, even though the workers are on a”peanuts” in comparison to the west, they are actually trying their very best to produce good service. And they don’t even expect a tip! A lesson that should be learnt throughout the west. Hotels and hotel staff take pride in all they do to make their guests feel accommodated in luxury surroundings -not the “what do you want? ” type attitude that we are used to. In my opinion, if you are seeking great customer service in luxury hotels in western countries, then all I can say is “good luck”. This is not going to happen anytime soon. In fact, when I stay at these so called luxury hotels I try to avoid the hotel staff like the plague-which is after all what they really want isn’t it? In a nutshell, the hotel star rating system in the west is certainly not equivalent to the rating system in the east so, don’t expect a thing. On the other hand, when reading these reviews for Aussie or UK/US hotels etc try to ignore the service aspect of them and try and look out for shabby rooms, broken fittings and worst of all “thin wall” complaints.  After all service was born in places like Thailand or Japan, don’t expect it anywhere else.

A prime example of service to a tee and luxury to its optimum has to be the Dusit International hotels found in Thailand and now the Middle East. These hotels pride themselves not only in excellence but also in every single detail of hotelier management. They don’t pay their staff peanuts either; which spells out only one thing: that of luxury, opulence, real five star services and a setting fit for kings and queens.

Will you Dusit Thani? Check out luxury Hotels Thailand and other Luxury Thailand Hotels at the Dusit Thani Hotel website.

Travel advice for Bangkok and Thailand

Filed under: travel — Tags: advice, bangkok, thailand, travel — libertees @ 10:11 pm April 3, 2010

A violent showdown between Thai soldiers and anti-government protesters in Bangkok has prompted governments around the world to issue travel warnings. The Foreign Office has advised against all but essential travel to Bangkok. British nationals should also review travel plans to other parts of Thailand. British nationals already in Bangkok and other cities affected by the violence are advised to stay indoors and to monitor the media and this travel insurance advice. A state of emergency has been in force in Bangkok and the surrounding provinces of Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, Pathumthani, Nakhon Prathom and Ayudhaya since 12 April. Armoured vehicles are deployed in the capital and security forces are attempting to clear the streets. Several violent clashes have occurred between red-shirted supporters of ex-Prime Minister Thaksin and military and police units in central Bangkok and the seaside resort of Pattaya. During the early hours of 13 April, troops used tear gas and fired warning shots at one group of protestors who returned fire. There are reports of some 60-70 injuries. Some shops are closed and red-shirted protestors have blocked several road junctions with makeshift barricades and tanker trucks. This is making travel in some parts of Bangkok difficult. The Lao/Thai border crossing in Nong Chai is closed and there are reports of road blocks in Chiang Mai and Lampang in northern Thailand. Red-shirt leaders have threatened major protests in 50 cities throughout Thailand in the next few days.

The main Bangkok railway station is closed. However the international airport and the main access road to it remain open. Transit through Bangkok airport has so far been unaffected. Foreigners have not been targeted by the protestors and there are no reports of British citizens being caught up directly in the violence. However, the situation remains volatile and unpredictable with a high risk of further bloodshed. The political situation in Thailand remains uncertain. Throughout Thailand, British citizens should exercise great caution and avoid demonstrations or large gatherings of people which might turn violent.

Should you become caught up in what is neatly termed, civil commotion or civil unrest, you need to be aware that most travel insurance providers include this as a general exclusion in their policies. The impact of this is that you may not be as well insured as you think you are. If in doubt, do check with your travel insurance company before you travel and look at your policy wording. Generally, medical expenses and medical repatriation will be included but if you want to be covered for all eventualities then you will have to pay an increased premium for this. Thankfully the chances of being caught up in these types of incidents are still very slight, and even when they do strike, they tend to be away from the main tourist destinations. So if you do plan to visit Thailand, do check with your tour operator beforehand who may be able to offer alternative destinations away from the troubled areas. For the independent traveller, be wise and avoid those areas where a heightened tension exists.
