Beach Vacations in Florida for the Family

Filed under: travel — Tags: beach, family, florida, vacations — libertees @ 1:03 pm January 28, 2012

A convenient location and wonderful climate makes Florida the ideal destination for a family vacation. Whether it is Miami or another city, getting around the state is easy as rental cars are widely available and reasonably priced as well. Round up the family and hit the beach, take a swim with the dolphins, or get your adrenaline rush on the roller coasters. Whatever your pleasure, Florida can deliver an experience unlike you will find anywhere else.

Beach Scenery

Florida offers 1100 miles of gorgeous beaches, crystal clear waters, and delightful tropical breezes. In the Sunshine State, you can easily find heavily populated beaches with a party atmosphere, or quite beaches perfect for relaxing. Many vacationers are fond of Siesta Public Beach because it has a great environment for kids. Located in sunny Sarasota, this beach offers fine white sand, translucent shallow waters, calm waves, and a well equipped playground. Those who like to collect seashells will be pleased with the findings at Sanibel Island, which boasts well over 400 types of shells. Amelia Island is also a popular spot to visit, boasting 13 miles of island primed for activities such as sunbathing, horseback riding, kayaking, exciting shopping and fine dining. If your family has their heart set on Miami, rest easy because this vibrant city has several great beaches that offer a little something for everyone.

Tourists Attractions

Orlando, Florida is the perfect place for the vacationing family seeking action. Here you will find Walt Disney World, SeaWorld, and the impressive entertainment hub known as Universal Studios. Although Orlando is indeed one of the main attractions, it is only the beginning when it comes to exploring the great state of Florida. The St. Petersburg and Clearwater areas have many exciting attractions the kids are sure to love while the tropical islands of the Florida Keys offer an array of wonderful opportunities for every member of the family. However, you don’t have to visit the Keys for island-style family fun. A comforting cottage on lovely Anna Maria Island would make a nice alternative, or the family can head north to visit the amazing Dinosaur Adventure Land in Pensacola. This phenomenal facility offers a traditional park, museum and science park, each of which has several activities perfectly suited for all members of the family. From botanical gardens to amusement parks, Florida can provide everything for the family looking to have a blast on their vacation.

Planning Your Family Vacation

You can make sure the family enjoys the best vacation possible by planning ahead. The first thing you want to do is figure out where you guys will be traveling to. As you can see, Florida offers many desirable destinations and picking from the bunch can be difficult. After narrowing down your options for vacation spots, do some research to learn more about each destination so you know what the family is in for. You can do this by obtaining a travel guide or simply visiting the official website for that particular destination. Whatever you decide, we think both you and your family will consider your Florida vacation time well spent.

Family Travel Tips

Filed under: travel — Tags: family, tips, travel — libertees @ 1:02 pm January 18, 2012

Travel, the word itself conjures up exciting images. Other than providing a change from your mundane and hectic life, traveling also means exploring and getting to know the unknown. When you go on a tour with your family, it is likely to be even more fun filled and fulfilling. Family trips are those that you want to cherish and treasure for your life. However it is not always easy to have a successful and hassle free trip with your family, especially when you have kids to take care of. If you are planning one, you need to be in the know of some important points that will help you throughout the tour. Here are some of them:

Pack Right

When you travel with your family you have to be careful about your packing. Remember that you have to pack in things of daily use as well as those that you might need during the course of your tour. There is the very important first aid kit that you need to take. You can’t expect to find a drug store in a completely unknown place! It is always beneficial to carry an antiseptic, a set of band aids, and some basic medicines in the first aid kit. If you have kids, the items grow much larger in number. You need to take the diapers, baby wipes, zip bags to carry small items, a detergent that will help you get rid of the spots that your kid has got on his clothes and so on.

Start on Time

Don’t start at the eleventh hour! When you travel with your family you have to be all the more careful about the time. It’s better not to rush and run in order to reach on time. Rather starting a little earlier is a good idea!

Relax and Have Fun

Leave your worries and anxieties at home when you go for a family trip. Just have fun and make the most of your free time. Always remember that spending quality time with your family is the biggest boon. So make no mistake! Don’t drag your work along, instead take a light read, or engage in sports activities with your kids. Racquet ball, flying disks etc. can be good options. This will not only keep your children busy, but will also entertain them.

Have the Right Attitude

This is perhaps the most important thing. You need to be in the right frame of mind throughout your trip. Do not let small mishaps or unfavorable situations ruin your entire tour. Everything cannot turn out to be the way you had expected. Don’t spoil your mood or be caught unawares by unforeseen and unwanted situations, instead be flexible and have the presence of mind to ensure a safe and happy trip for your family!

Family trips can be extremely exciting and fulfilling if planned out and executed successfully. Keeping these four points in mind will help you to go about it in the right way. Once you remember these you are all set to have a blast with your family. Have fun!

My mother in law told me they have made a new National Holiday, “Family Day”?

Question by Trix_R_not_4_kids: My mother in law told me they have made a new National Holiday, “Family Day”?
I’m not sure who “they” are, but apparently it’s on February 18th. Can anyone tell me more about this day? Who declared it?
Latino Heat, that is possible. LOL!

Not in the US

What do you think? Answer below!

Are all holidays “family” holidays, or are they “mixed” (adult, children, combined)?

Filed under: Blog — Tags: adult, children, Combined, family, holidays, mixed, they — @ 1:30 pm December 29, 2011

Question by Jonny B: Are all holidays “family” holidays, or are they “mixed” (adult, children, combined)?
My personal feelings on the issue is that holidays like Valentine’s Day, New Years Eve, Saint Patrick’s Day are “adult” holidays and children can enjoy them when they grow up. Holidays like Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, are primarily “family” holidays. Birthdays belong to the individual.

I do have friends that try and make every holiday revolve around the children. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

I also think that certain portions of holidays are for children, i.e. Easter egg hunts, pinatas, Santa, etc…

Now, I realize that almost any holiday celebration can be transformed into adult or family or children. I’m asking who people think the main unmorphed holiday celebrators should be and which holidays belong to which celebrators.
No judgement here, just curious as to what people think and why.

I like your question. I believe it is appropriate to celebrate eves with adults and the Holiday with your kids. Unfortunately, I have no family to spend any Holidays with.

Going for Family Cruises Is Real Fun

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: cruises, family, fun, going, real — libertees @ 1:04 am December 23, 2011

Going for a family cruise is one of the healthiest entertaining paths to enjoy your holiday with your folks and love the memories forever.  You may find selective activities and customized services for all of you.

You simply need to have some correct planning.  Start by outlining your position.  When you know your finance position look for cruises that fit into your financial position.  This avoids having to make a hole in your pocket when you come back.

There’s something for everybody on a cruise families, couples, singles and youngsters can all find activities to fill there time on the ship with fun.  Many first time cruisers don’t appreciate that it’s not nearly the ports you visit but the numerous fun filled hours you spend at sea.  There are three major classes of cruise lines and they are Luxury Cruises, Premium Cruises which would be considered your mid level cruise and Main line Cruises which that are most cheap and favored.  Cruises are available for all taste and pocket books.  And if you’re a food lover a cruise is for you.

If you bring youngsters along, look for family accommodation lofts with adjoining cabins that have connecting doors.  Ask which cabins will be below or close to the water line, which are found well below deck and near to the engines or kitchens, check out how many steps you’ll have to climb to reach deck.

Internet connections are available permitting you to stay in touch with home and naturally, you can curl up with a well-crafted book from the library.  Nightly activity includes trying your luck in the casino, taking in a Broadway or las vegas style production, dancing or simply listening to music as you like a drink with your friends.  There’s something else consistently on a luxury around the world cruise for you to enjoy.  Then there are the ports of call where you can decide to go ashore or stay on the ship.  At each port, you have a selection of activities to play a part in and there’s always a chance to go shopping so you have special souvenirs to take back home.

nowadays, cruises are getting increasingly well-liked and reasonable all thanks to technology which has made these things cheaper than they used to be earlier.  Cruise lines offer cheap tickets for cruise ships and at the same time they supply last minute kickbacks too, which are awfully beneficial for those families which wish to remain and enjoy on cruise.  These last minute kickbacks are the strategic part of the business which they offer to order even those seats which are empty.  In most cruises, all of the seats which are not prepared before the exit of cruise are offered with great reductions.

Family Cruises: The Convenient Alternative

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: alternative, convenient, cruises, family — libertees @ 1:06 am December 18, 2011

In today’s economic circumstances, families are concerned with saving as much as they can, and spending as little as possible on luxuries such as holidays. However, family cruises offer not only lower costs, but also greater convenience for those who need a break. When comparing family cruise holidays with land-based types of travel, there are various considerations that people can keep in mind to decide what type of holiday would suit them best.

The best thing about family cruises, particularly for parents, is the convenience of onboard activities for kids. Children of all ages are accommodated on cruises that offer family packages. These include day-care services for younger children, activities involving play and other forms of entertainment for preschoolers to preteens, up to game and dance venues for teenagers. Often meals are also set up to cater for the tastes of all ages.

In addition to convenience, family cruises also include value for money. Each cruise package has a single price to include most of the onboard services the family will receive, such as rooms, dining, entertainment, and extras. Generally, a land vacation of the same quality for the whole family would be more expensive.

Cruises of course do not include benefits such as getting to know a local culture, or the opportunity to explore a land resort. They are also limited to coastal locations. However, for many families, the benefits far outweigh these disadvantages.

Family cruises provide true relaxation for all family members. With the help of committed onboard staff, families can spend time together without getting into each other’s hair, while each family member also has the opportunity to pursue his or her own interests in a safe and convenient setting.

All About Family Discount Cruises

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: cruises, discount, family — libertees @ 1:02 pm November 29, 2011

Finding the perfect cruise that fits both your family’s interests and budget can be a daunting task, but with a little information on what to look for, you can arrange a cruise you’ll remember for a lifetime. This general overview on family discount cruises will get you put you on the right track to planning your next getaway.

What Makes it a Family Cruise?

While cruises were once purely the domain of couples and honeymooners, today they cater even more so to families. Family Cruises are on the informal end of the spectrum and offer something to passengers with age-specific activities and amenities. They also offer rates and accommodations designed specifically so that parents and kids can share the same cabin space. Even more appealing, these cruises feature a safe environment where kids can have fun on their own in guided events while the deserving parents take some time to themselves.

Activities Just for Kids

Several of the most popular cruise lines offer a plethora of fun, supervised activities for kids of all ages — from babies and toddlers right up to teens. While younger kids will enjoy the hands-on approach of finger painting, play-dough sculpting and face painting, older kids can keep busy with video games, all sorts of sports, scavenger hunts and more. While kids are away from their parents, they will usually have a designated part of the ship all to themselves and when under a certain age, can only be signed in or out by mom or dad. This lets the cruise staff make sure both that kids are safe and are having the most fun — without any grownups in the way.

Activities for Adults

While the kids are busy having fun, parents can choose from a whole range of events featured on regular cruises. For the ultimate in relaxation, you might choose to lounge by a pool, chill out in a sauna or enjoy a day or two at the spa with a facial, massage or body wrap.

Later on when you feel like having some fun, you might choose to do a little socializing at daily deck parties and wine tastings. Parents and older family members will also appreciate amazing shows on a daily basis like Broadway-style musicals, quiz-shows, and live first-rate musical acts.

Don’t worry about going hungry either. Cruise ships and their staff are experts at satisfying passengers’ every culinary whim and desire. Peckish passengers are likely to find a dozen or more unique and delicious places on board to have a meal they won’t soon forget.

Activities for the Whole Family

Of course, the whole point of an amazing family vacation is spending time and having fun together. Everyone is sure to have a great time at all ages water parks, family deck parties with fun themes and shows and musicals you might expect to find only at amusement resorts on land.

Accommodations

Accommodations on family cruises are designed to include everyone in the same cabin as comfortably as possible. For larger groups, connecting rooms are available and for more compact families, you can share one room. Just about every cruise line offers special discounted rates throughout the summer season — anywhere from half price to free fare for kids traveling with two full fare adults.

Going Ashore

While you can have the time of your life on board your cruise ship, the huge advantage of traveling while you relax is seeing exotic locations with your own eyes and experiencing all they’ve got to offer.

The Caribbean is the world’s most popular cruise destination for lots of reasons — perfect weather year round, more diverse yet exceedingly interesting and beautiful ports located within the same region and more chances for once-in-a-lifetime activities and family fun than anywhere else.

Family cruises will normally go into port at family-friendly locations. Back on land, you’ll find options for fun like state of the art aquariums where parents and their kids can learn about native Caribbean sea life and even get up close and personal with dolphins, sea turtles and more. Other great options include snorkeling, parasailing or going on an off-road jeep tour of the more rugged parts of the island you’re visiting.

For families whose kids are a bit more on the mature side, an Alaskan cruise can offer the adventure of a lifetime. Along the way, they feature views of rugged natural wilderness and wildlife like bald eagles, moose and majestic breaching whales. And when making calls to port, excursions can let families soar across a glacier on a helicopter tour or learn to command a pack of sled dogs.

For an unforgettable, exciting and unique family vacation you’ll remember for a lifetime, a cruise getaway can’t be beaten. Find the cruise that’s right for you today!

Cheap Family Holidays

Article by Robert Tellier

Cheap Family Holidays – A Variety to Choose From

Most of us are all looking for those affordable cheap family holidays, but just exactly what’s out there to choose from and where are the best places to go to find them? Well, I am going to try and shed a little light on what there is available and just how to go about finding what’s right for you and your family.

Taking a family holiday is great! It doesn’t matter if it’s just a small weekend get a way, or that long planned vacation away to some tropical destination or elsewhere in the world. If you’re like our family, spending anytime together seems to be a rare occurrence these days. What with everything going on with each others business, we seem to just pass by each other as we come and go out the door.

We’re all so busy with what’s going on with our own lives that we often forget to take a moment and spend precious time with those most important to us, family. Whether we go away for a weekend camping or plan a vacation, it’s always nice to spend the time together and catch up with one another once again.

At the same time, with the economy the way it is, it’s often difficult to just manage to get through each month, let alone afford to go on a trip of any kind, so if you’re like us, finding cheap family vacations is priority one! Well, there’s good news, if you’re willing to spend some time looking and planning, there are some great cheap family holidays out there just waiting for you!

Cheap Family Holidays – All Inclusive Vacations Galore

One of the best vacation values to be had and that we as a family have enjoyed for many years are those all – inclusive family vacations. These types of holidays are perhaps the best value for your vacation dollar available today. This is without a doubt a great inexpensive family holiday that we as a family of four have enjoyed for many years.

Why are these so great you ask? Price, that’s why. The value you receive for your hard earned dollar is unbeatable, especially if you’re traveling with children. Your usual discount all-inclusive vacations include airfare, airport trips, housing, meals, snacks, alcohol drinks and non-alcoholic beverages, activities and nightly theaters and shows. What more could you ask for? Unlike cruise holidays, leaving gratuities is not mandatory and is left entirely up to you the individual.

Most inclusive resorts offer fantastic deals when traveling with children. If your kids are under 12 or 13 years, they usually eat and stay absolutely free! Even if your kids are in their teens, you can still receive terrific price reductions off the normal adult prices listed.

Whether you have just a few days to escape or a few weeks, once you arrive at your holiday destination, you can simply relax and enjoy the vacation without having to always dip into your wallet every time you want something! This is without a doubt our favorite cheap family holiday and still is today with or without our grown children.

Cheap Family Holidays – Ever Taken a Sea Cruise?

One other great suggestion when looking for those great affordable family vacations is cruise holidays. Another terrific value family vacation for those on a strict budget and looking for the best price possible. We’ve experienced four great family cruise vacations over the years and again, what great bang for your buck!

In fact, cruise holidays are now measured as one of the leading vacation choices for families and after you’ve experience a cruise, it’s no wonder why. As each year passes, cruise companies constantly make never ending changes in order to accommodate travelers of all ages. In particular, designing and building new beautiful state of the art ships offering more amenities to suit people of all ages.It seems each individual cruise line is continually trying to beat one another with bigger and more extravagant ships, service, dining, on board activities and so much more. The competition is mighty within the cruise industry, with each wanting to win you over for their business and because of this there has never been a better and more affordable time to enjoy cruising.

Cruise vacations now offer the best possible holiday experience no matter where you wish to travel around the world. Except for extra cruise tips that you should include in your cruise planning budget, especially when you experience the service received from staff on board ship, the best part is that a cruise holiday experience is virtually all-inclusive!

Cheap Family Holidays – Gone Camping Lately?

Our family has been camping for years, taking us to some fabulous places in North America. Family Camping Holidays are super fun and a great way to reconnect with family members, especially while sitting around the campfire enjoying those yummy ‘Smores’! If you haven’t considered camping as a vacation alternative, perhaps you should.

Camping out is a great way to spend the holidays with your family and it’s very affordable too! You don’t need a big Class A motor home to enjoy camping! We started camping in a simple tent and often times just camping out in the back of our pickup with a canopy. We then moved up to a used tent trailer, saved our money over the years progressing upward to a 5th Wheel trailer and now owning a luxurious Class C motor home with all the bells and whistles.

Like the other cheap family vacations I’ve suggested, you can go camping easily in your own neighborhood for the weekend or plan that great family camping adventure to Disneyland or even the Nascar Races like we do. With some careful planning, it can be done on a limited budget that will suit most everyone.

There are all kinds of cheap family holidays to get you and your family on your way. These are just three of our favorites that we thought you and your family may enjoy as well.

Happy travels!
