I’m not sure who “they” are, but apparently it’s on February 18th. Can anyone tell me more about this day? Who declared it?

Make Family Holidays in Benidorm Fun For The Kids

Article by Tom James

Travel back in time at Terra Mitica, a reasonably new theme park which is the largest in Europe. The theme of the park is the old world with five themed lands including ancient Greece, Iberia and the Islands. You’ll be greeted by pirates, gladiators and comedy street performers along the way whilst those looking for a thrill will be racing to queue up for the park’s big adventures, such as SynKope, a giant discus spinning at 90 kph at an angle of 120 degrees or Inferno, Europe’s first ball coaster. For smaller children, Jabato, dodgems shaped like baby animals and Mithos, a mini traditional fairground carousel will be big hits.

Terra Natura is a great place get up close and personal with a whole host of animals and wildlife – not to mention a water park too! Pass through the Mighty Jungle of forests and lush natural vegetation from all over the world with more than 2500 trees and plants; see what life is like for locals as traditional villagers perform spectacular shows and acts for you to enjoy; marvel at the 1500 animals from across the globe as they live in as natural a habitat as possible. One of the park’s biggest pluses is the ‘Zoo Immersion’, a way for you to see the animals as if there are no barriers between you. Plus, the action is brought by Thrills and Spills, an area to swim with sharks and rays, fly through the skies on zip wires or plunge down an enormous water chute. If that doesn’t tire the children out, nothing will.

If your kids are the sort that love a run around, Aqualandia Water Park is a must on holidays to Benidorm. This conveniently placed aqua park has a range of water activities to suit every family member. Relax in the shaded areas, grab a bite to eat at the cafe or restaurant or make nap time fun time with a snooze in a hammock. There are also over 20 rides and slides to suit children of all ages whilst the zoo experience is a memory that’ll last a lifetime. The zoo experience will see your children come face to face with the zoo’s sea lions and swim, play and even feed them. Quite an experience for Spain holidays.

Travelling with children can be difficult, at the best of times. The relatively short flight to take you and your brood on family holidays in Benidorm could be enough to make the even most zen-like of people feel rather frazzled – entertaining children is a difficult task whilst on holiday, with cries of “I’m bored” heard more often than “hola” or “adios”! So when they’ve tired of the pool, complained about the beach and won’t sit still at another delightful restaurant, try some of these child-friendly activities to entice a smile from the little darlings.

Spend a Memorable Family Holiday in Sri Lanka

Spend a Memorable Family Holiday in Sri Lanka

Article by Shani Silva

Sri Lanka is a fantastic destination for a family holiday, even for those with very young children and babies. As the Sri Lankan people are very caring and friendly, you can feel safe to bring your children to the island. All the luxury hotels in Sri Lanka have baby cots; high chairs and many have a babysitting service. If you bring a baby carrier, you can even climb Sigiriya rock fortress and visit the ancient cities.

For families with toddlers a beach holiday in Sri Lanka is probably the best option. Between September and March the south coast is ideal. The currents can be strong but there are safe bathing beaches and pools. Wijaya Beach, close to Galle, is particularly good for young children as there is a large pool sheltered by a reef, so the water is shallow and the waves are not too high.

On Sri Lanka’s south coast there are several luxury villas and hotels with large suites and interconnecting rooms that are suitable for families. A family holiday itinerary in Sri Lanka should include a visit to the Pinnewela Elephant Orphanage where children can see baby elephants being bottle-fed and also the elephants bathing in the river. Many of these are wild elephants that have been rescued after injury and sickness. The Elephant Gathering in Minneriya National Park, which takes place between July and September is a must if you are in Sri Lanka at this time. It is thought to be the largest coming together of the animals in the world and is a real wildlife spectacle.

For older children staying in a tented safari in Yala National Park is a popular way to spend part of a family holiday. A BBC study has found this area of land in Sri Lanka’s deep south to have the highest density of leopards in the world. It is great fun traveling along dirt roads in a jeep, looking out for the elusive cats, sloth bears, pythons and rare birds.

If you are considering taking a family holiday in Sri Lanka with older children, then there are plenty of other adventure activities to try. These include white water rafting in Kitulgala, which was the setting for the film Bridge over the River Kwai. Another wonderful way of discovering true Sri Lanka is walking through the Knuckles Mountain Range where you will come across remote villages, stunning views and waterfalls. For those feeling really energetic, then it is well worth climbing Adam’s Peak, one of the highest mountains on the island and a place that is sacred for four religions.

Families who are interested in history and culture will find that their imaginations come alive in Sri Lanka’s ancient cities. Anuradhapura is home to soaring red brick dagobas, which until a few years ago were covered in plants and trees after lying abandoned for almost one thousand years. Sigiriya Rock Fortress is also fascinating; especially to imagine that King Kasyapa lived here in the 5th century and even bathed in luxurious baths right on top of the rock. The incredible variety of landscapes, climates and activities make Sri Lanka a fantastic destination for a family holiday.

Are all holidays “family” holidays, or are they “mixed” (adult, children, combined)?

Filed under: Blog — Tags: adult, children, Combined, family, holidays, mixed, they — @ 1:30 pm December 29, 2011

Question by Jonny B: Are all holidays “family” holidays, or are they “mixed” (adult, children, combined)?
My personal feelings on the issue is that holidays like Valentine’s Day, New Years Eve, Saint Patrick’s Day are “adult” holidays and children can enjoy them when they grow up. Holidays like Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, are primarily “family” holidays. Birthdays belong to the individual.

I do have friends that try and make every holiday revolve around the children. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

I also think that certain portions of holidays are for children, i.e. Easter egg hunts, pinatas, Santa, etc…

Now, I realize that almost any holiday celebration can be transformed into adult or family or children. I’m asking who people think the main unmorphed holiday celebrators should be and which holidays belong to which celebrators.
No judgement here, just curious as to what people think and why.

I like your question. I believe it is appropriate to celebrate eves with adults and the Holiday with your kids. Unfortunately, I have no family to spend any Holidays with.
