Experience Magical Holidays in the South Pacific

Filed under: travel — Tags: experience, holidays, magical, pacific, south — libertees @ 1:03 pm February 1, 2012

Holidays in the South Pacific are well known as relaxing and fascinating experiences. There are many wonderful islands to explore including Cook Islands, Fiji, Tahiti Vanuatu, and Samoa. If your idea of a great getaway involves “fun in the sun” then you should surely consider visiting at least one of the island chains in the southern Pacific region.

While many people may only think about the beautiful beaches when they imagine holidays in the South Pacific there are many other sights and adventures waiting to be discovered. The white sandy shores of the South Pacific islands do hold a magnetic attraction for most guests, and who can blame them? The sands of the beaches are powdery soft and the shores are dotted with tall, graceful palm trees that gracefully sway in the balmy breezes. Clear, jewel toned water laps gently at the edges of the beach. You can walk just a short distance out into the ocean and easily find sand dollars, unusual sea shells and a dazzling assortment of curious, colorful fish.

If you want to find a wider variety of marine life you can grab some gear and go snorkeling or scuba diving. The Pacific Ocean is where you can listen to the magical songs of humpback whales or watch the dizzying dances of playful dolphins. These islands are home to some of the premiere beaches, lagoons and coral reefs in the world. For those visitors who prefer to stay on the surface of the ocean during their holidays in the South Pacific there are many places to rent sailboats, canoes, kayaks and jet skis.

On the South Pacific islands you have the chance to explore many amazing displays of nature. You can wander through exotic rain forests, climb mountains, visit a volcano, or just enjoy the lush green beauty of the landscape that surrounds you. This is also an opportunity for you to discover more about the culture of the islands.

Holidays in the South Pacific have enough magical excitement and fun to keep everyone entertained throughout your stay. There are hundreds of resorts available and you can find one that will suit any taste and budget. Choose a bohemian beach hut as the accommodations for your stay. Or perhaps you may prefer one of the elegant, high-end island resorts where you can enjoy pampering that extends beyond your wildest dreams. For the “high roller” holiday guests there are a number of resorts that feature live shows and busy casinos.

The Richard Petty Driving Experience: Get Ready for Some Serious Action!

Filed under: travel — Tags: action, driving, experience, petty, ready, richard, serious — libertees @ 1:02 pm January 17, 2012

Do you enjoy watching NASCAR races? If you answered yes to this question, then ask yourself another one, would you like to ride in or drive a NASCAR vehicle? If you answered yes to this question, then consider trying the Richard Petty Driving Experience at Disney World or at over 20 other locations in the USA.

The enterprise has its roots in the late 1980s but it started to take its present shape in 1994 when the company known as the Richard Petty Driving Experience (RPDE) was formed with a hand-full of cars, a small shop and an office in Concord, North Carolina.

The thrill of riding in fast NASCAR cars has really caught on since then and by last year the RPDE was run on 27 tracks nationwide with over 1, 168 track days.

They offer two basic programs, as well as several variations on them. There is the ride-along experience in which you get to experience the thrill of racing by riding “shotgun” in a two-seat NASCAR style stock car driven by one of their professional drivers. It is a three lap qualifying run and you will experience speeds up to 165 MPH. The ride-along program is offered at over 20 locations around the country.

For the more adventurous NASCAR or fast driving enthusiasts they offer the Driving Experiences where you take command of the wheel and experience the thrill of racing first hand. You have to be able to drive a car with a manual transmission in order to participate in one of these programs, and there are several “driving experiences” to choose from.

There is the Rookie Experience in which 16 people take part in a three hour class. There is the King’s Experience with eight people in a three hour class, and in the Experience of a Lifetime you are in a class with only five people. In the Racing Experience there are only 12 people in a full day class.

So what’s it like to take part in this? Well, you start off by getting into a special driving suit and helmet. You watch a video and then enter a van that takes you out on the track so that you can learn about the track signage. Someone on the tower gives hand signals. In the King’s Experience you drive eight laps and then go off the track to get a review of what you need to correct or change. This review takes place in the car and then you go out again for ten laps.

While driving on the course you follow a pace car. The pace car let you know about the turns, banking straight stretches of the course, and the pace car drives as fast as you can follow. It is not uncommon for the fastest driver in a class to reach speeds of over 120 MPH.

If this sounds like fun to you, and for many people it is definitely the “Experience of a Lifetime” then check this out. It will be a thrill, but not a cheap thrill. For example the Rookie Experience around $450 while a ride along experience starts at around $60.

You have to book your “experience” in advance and it is best to call 1-800-BE-PETTY to get complete details about the Richard Petty Driving Experience

cultural experience and travel advices for canarian island

Filed under: travel — Tags: advices, canarian, cultural, experience, island, travel — libertees @ 5:00 pm September 29, 2010

cultural experience of canarian island, our walking-clothes are desperately in need of washing. And while they are drying, we do a bit of culture. Our first stop is at Orotava. There are a lot of mansions here. The typical Canarian style is a house with a patio and balconies. The most famous mansion in Orotava is called the Casa de las Balcones, which of course translates as ‘the house with the balconies’. This house truly has a lot of balconies, they’re even on the inside, along the patio.

Inside the Casa de las Balcones you can find a handicraft shop. And on the second floor there’s also a small museum, that’s well worth a visit. We at IRTouring  iran tour,  visited the church in Orotava.

And on the square we found a lot of flags with Chinese symbols. We think it has something to do with carnaval, as we can’t find a Chinese restaurant

In Puerto de la Cruz we visit the Botanical garden. We like botanical gardens and visit them all over the world. Compared to all those other ones we’ve seen, this one is: very busy , expensive , not very interesting,

We guess it’s full with people who never visit a Botanical garden (and will never visit one again).

La Laguna de Christobal used to be the capital before Santa Cruz. It was founded in 1492 or so, just after the Spanish conquered the Guanches. The city is a Unesco World Heritage monument. The monastery, you see on the picture below, is usually probably not so busy as the day we were here. We think some-one important died, but it could also be related to the carnaval.

In the church of Candelaria there is a famous black Madonna. Ehh, just one Madonna ? The church is crowded with them. Everywhere you look, there is another statue or a painting. Even the stained glass windows are swarming with Madonnas.

Outside the church, there is a row of statues of Guanche kings. In our opinion, these guys are supposed to be very sturdy and brave. But the way they are represented here doesn’t look good. With all the parked cars in front of them, hotels in the background and some garbage containers around them, they look like the gay needlepoint club of Tuitjehorn in the Netherlands.

My Experience With Reading Travel Reviews To Book My Auckland Hotel

Filed under: hotels — Tags: Auckland, book, experience, hotel, Reading, Reviews, travel — libertees @ 5:00 pm September 28, 2010

In anticipation of an upcoming trip to Auckland, New Zealand (NZ) I was on the search for accommodation. With so many options to choose from – bed & breakfast, motels, lodges, serviced apartments and hotels (to name a few) – I eventually decided to choose Auckland hotel accommodation. Now my issue went from: What kind of accommodation do I want to stay in? to: Which provider do I choose?

It’s fair to say that had I booked my trip through a travel agent they may well have been able to suggest the right provider for me, but in this day and age of online travel bookings, I had no need to talk to a travel agent. So keeping in line with my online flight bookings, I decided to book my accommodation online too. First though I decided to find out what other people were saying about Auckland hotels, to see if anyone had some good suggestions for me.

I’ve heard all this talk about user reviews becoming more and more popular in today’s online environment, and I can now see why. It’s much like talking to your family or friends and asking if they can recommend somewhere to stay, but in this event you have access to a wider range of opinions. The other advantage is that the feedback which is posted on the site is no longer filtered by the providers so that you only read good reviews, instead they are a much more transparent and honest assessment of the hotel.

There are many online travel review sites available, but I must say that it’s important to find one which isn’t just a general site allowing people to sign up and post comments unanimously, as these are open to unverified reports and even overly positive and sometimes fraudulent comments from accommodation providers themselves. So my first step was finding a trusted Auckland hotel review site/s.

This came in the form of an online booking site. The comments on these types of sites can only be posted by people who have actually booked and stayed at that particular Auckland hotel. This results in me being able to read honest reviews from actual guests. Not only that but it was easier to read the reviews on the same website I could end up booking on, than having to read one site and then find another for the actual Auckland hotel I chose.

Most of the reviews I came across, had a 1 to 5 star rating system where :
1 = poor
2 = below average
3 = value for money
4 = great value for money
5 = excellent experience

This method of rating means I could easily gain a general idea of the value without having to read every review over the past twelve months. From there, further investigation of the hotel was required, which involved reading each of the reviews that caught my attention. At this point it was very important for me to remember that one or two bad reviews did not necessarily reflect poor service on the part of the hotel. People do have bad days, and unfortunately hotels do to. But if dripping taps, poor showers, noisy rooms or bad service is mentioned in a number of the reviews, I considered it safe to assume that the majority of guests are right.

In the end, the one trend that showed up in the majority of bad reviews, is that at times people were expecting more from the hotel than it provided. Such complaints as “the restaurant was closed at 11pm”, “no room service” or “I had to carry my own luggage”, all show on investigation that these services were not offered by the Auckland hotel in the first place. There is still the perception that a hotel has 24 hour front desks and bar, pools, gymnasiums and spa. Where as today’s demands have removed the non essential offerings and services in order to provide a better price to the consumer.

So after reading numerous reviews and now feeling more informed than when I started, I managed to locate an Auckland hotel which meet my needs, not only in terms of service, but in terms of location, price and facilities. Ultimately the reviews were one component of my decision and needed to be viewed alongside my own personal criteria, in order to make my final decision.

Traveling on a budget can give you all sorts of experiences, depending on a) your budget, b) where you want to go, and c) what you want to do. Everyone’s budget will be different, and traveling on a budget means knowing how much money you can afford to spend and sticking to that amount. So if you have a budget of two thousand dollars, your travel experience will be different from someone who has a budget of ten thousand dollars. It’s all relative to the dollar amount, but knowing some tricks to help you save money while traveling will make your dollars stretch further therefore increasing your travel experience.

Do you want to travel overseas? Do you want to travel around your home country? Do you want to stay in luxury accommodation or are you going to back- pack? Are you traveling with children or are you honeymooning? Are you traveling with a bunch of friends or are you keen to experience a group tour with strangers? All these questions are things you need to ask yourself before you begin to plan your trip. The first is probably a little easier to do because when the travel bug hits, you generally want to take off as soon as possible. Knowing your budget can guide you in making your decision of how and where you will be traveling. But if you have your heart set on a trip of a lifetime to an exotic island in the Pacific then you will need to save accordingly. It’s your choice.

Once you know what type of experience you are after, it’s time to work out the best way to get it on your available funds. Traveling on a budget is easier than you think these days. No longer does it mean living on stale food and sleeping in questionable accommodation. If you are wise and spend some time investigating deals to your chosen destination you could be able to enhance your traveling experience more than you thought possible. A bit of research will get you a long way when traveling on a budget.

A Cruise Review To Envision The Cruise Ship Experience

Filed under: cruise — Tags: cruise, Envision, experience, Review, ship — libertees @ 5:02 pm June 30, 2010

There are many vacation choices but for one with great options why not consider cruise travel. Read this cruise review to envision the cruise ship experience.

Body:
If you want to go on a vacation with great options, you might consider taking a cruise. If you have never been a cruise ship before and you are not sure whether it would be perfect for you, read on. The cruise ship experience will be much clearer after you read this cruise review.

This article will not be endorsing or promoting a particular cruise line, but will just give you some glimpses of what cruise lines are offering to cruise passengers. This includes cruise destinations, various ranges of prices and amenities available.

In some cases cruise lines will proved an option of a pre or post-cruise stay at a hotel in the town where you embark or disembark. This is especially beneficial when you travel great distances to board your cruise ship. By using this option it actually affords you the ability to add on an extra port to explore before your cruise ship experience is over.

For instance, if your departure point is at Los Angeles, and you choose this option you will have time to visit famous places there such as Hollywood (the famous walk of stars) or Venice Beach (a funky hip beach town).

On the day of the cruise departure, you will be brought to the pier where your cruise ship is waiting for you. It will take about 45 minutes to an hour to check in your luggage, get your boarding pass and board the ship. Your room steward will meet you and this is when you should tell the steward if you have any special needs or requests. For instance, I like two bath towels and a bucket of ice each afternoon. They want to make you happy so don’t be shy.

It may take a couple of hours for your luggage to arrive so grab some lunch and then tour your cruise ship. Make any beauty and spa appointments now, on some days, like formal nights appointments sell out. Consider making these appointments on port days, especially if you have been to that port before. The salon/spa offer discounts if you book on those days. Roam around the first afternoon to see what delights are in store for you during your cruise ship experience.

You can enjoy several relaxing moments in the spa. Celebrity has what they call a Thalassotherapy pool, Princess has a swim against the current pool and Carnival has the giant slide into the outside pool. If you feel that you want to burn up some calories after all the wonderful meals, go to the fitness center which is equipped with modern state of the art equipment. Or you may feel like strolling around the promenade in that fresh salt air.

There are swimming pools aboard, both for adults and kids. Deck chairs and benches are also provided if you just want to watch your children enjoying the water in the pool.

Entertainment is also present in your cruising vacation. A state-of-the-art theater is provided for on-board entertainment. There will be Broadway like productions and children-oriented programs that are new and different everyday..

In case you are looking for a different entertainment, you can go to several theme bars or disco with live music open until the wee hours of the morning.

If you want to try your luck during your cruise travel, then there is an on-board casino where it features different games similar to what you see in Las Vegas.

There is a shopping center where you can find personal items and other things that you need while you are on-board. Here’s one cruise tip, try to pack things like Rolaids, bandages and toothpaste from home; they are expensive on the cruise ship

Library and recreation centers are also found on the cruise ship. Almost all cruise ships have a lending library and most have a room for playing bridge.

Food is one of the vital services offered by cruise lines. The best chefs from around the world are hired to prepare and cook excellent meals to ensure that your on-board dining experience will be truly memorable.

There are formal dining areas, which have a formal dress code on certain nights.
If you are looking for more informal style of dining, there are snack bars, cafeteria, and a pizza parlor on-board, which generally are opened for meals on extended hours. Many times the cruise lines close down one half of their Lido café (this is where they have the buffet lunch and dinner) to offer a casual place to dine but they still use a menu and servers. All of the food, no matter which style you choose are covered in the cruise prices.

Cruise itineraries generally include stops at different ports each or every other day, depending on the schedule of the cruise ship you chose. You have the option of either staying aboard the ship or you may disembark to join other passengers on a guided tour. You are also free to explore on your own at each stop, but make sure you know the departure time of the ship.

Booking a cruise is simple. To get the best advice on cruise ships use the services of a travel agency. Read cruise reviews that you can find online to familiarize yourself on what each cruise line offers. Or, if you are already savvy to cruising, log on to the official site of a particular cruise line to check on itineraries and prices.

You will be provided information about destinations and cruise packages that are affordable. Discounts and special offers are also available for passengers.

Hopefully, this cruise review will give you some insight into what delights you will find during your cruise ship experience.

Happy Cruising!

I’ve always been told that waiting til the last minute brings you amazing deals. But online, the prices for a carnival cruise have gone up almost 0 in only a month. So I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this? Do Carnival traveling agents price match? Are they willing to negotiate price if there are so many cabins left? I know standby isn’t an option due to security reasons, but what’s the best way? Thank you

Your Cruise Vacation – Cruise Ship Embarkation Procedures for Cruise Travel

The Cruise vacation you have been planning for a year is now a reality. You’ve packed your bags with the appropriate clothes for cruise travel. You have filled out all of the cruise documentation, do this at home, don’t wait to get to your cruise ship, and now you are ready for this highly anticipated cruise. There are a few cruises tips about embarkation day that you should know before you head for your cruise vacation.

Keep all of your documents with you, that includes tickets for the cruise, any vouchers, passport and any immigration forms that the cruise line has sent you. That includes bus vouchers from the cruise line that will deliver you to the ship from the airport. In is wise to pack a change of clothes in your carry on in case your baggage gets delayed. If you have purchased the vouchers from the cruise line, a cruise line representative will meet you at baggage claim and take you to the bus or van that will transport you to your cruise ship.

If you decided to handle the transfer on your own, check ahead of time to find out how much a taxi will cost from the airport to the pier. It is good to know how long it will take to make the transfer so you have timed your flights accordingly. Make sure you have attached your cruise line tags with ship name, cruising date, and stateroom number. When you arrive at the pier a porter will relieve of your bags. He will expect to be tipped. The going fare is one dollar per bag.

Cruise tips are always helpful so pay attention to this one. Let the cruise line make your airline reservations. The reason for this is that if your flight is delayed the cruise line will handle it. If there are several other passengers on the same flight the cruise line will delay the departure of the ship. If it’s just you and your traveling companion they will probably put you up in a hotel in the town of your embarkation and get you on the ship at the next port of call. If you opted to do it on your own, you will have to make all those arrangements. So, for safety and peace of mind let the cruise lines do it.

If you have decided to go to the town of embarkation a few days before the cruise, that will not be a problem, so make your own reservations. Some travel insurance companies will pick up these expenses but make sure you read the fine print on the policy BEFORE your cruise vacation.

When you get to your cruise ship, embarkation could be a little chaotic. There will be lines, especially early in the check in process. There will be a lot of stressed out people so just relax and take it in stride. After you have gone through the check in process you will be aboard and your cruise vacations begins. Here is where it pays to have all of your documentation completely filled out. Many of the cruise lines have loyalty programs so if you are a repeat cruiser many times they have preferred check in areas. Many of the cruise lines will have preferred check in for cruisers who have booked suites or mini suites. Check this out with your cruise travel agent.

This is a little off topic but it’s one of the best cruise tips you will hear. Use a cruise travel agent for all of your cruise travel. It is important to deal with an agent that has sailed on many different cruise lines so they can give you an honest opinion on the difference between cruise lines. Check and see if they are CLIA certified cruise lines organization. Be careful they don’t push you onto cruise ships where they have preferred status which means they get a higher commission. Scour the internet for cruise reviews on cruise travel to back up what your travel agent is telling you.

Now back to the pier. While you are checking in you will have to give the cruise line a credit card for any on board charges. Most times your room card is also your credit card and identification for getting on and off at ports while on the cruise ship. If you can get on the ship early in the process you get two benefits. One you get to have lunch and two you get the first shot at spa and beauty appointments. It will also give you time to peruse your cruise ship and then head for the pool. Having been a savvy cruise traveler you knew to bag a bathing suit into your carry on luggage.

Just before you get to the gangway you will be stopped by the ships photographer and a picture will be taken to commemorate your cruise vacation. It will be on display in the ships photo gallery but you are under no obligation to purchase it. Check in procedures will be different from ship to ship even within the same cruise lines. It depends on the experience of the staff and the cooperation of the passengers. Remember that these folks that are checking you in have been working since seven o’clock in the morning off loading the people from last weeks cruise vacation. Then they turn around and start putting on a whole new set of passengers for the next cruise.

The most important advice is to try to keep a cool head. You are headed for the best thing you can imagine, a cruise vacation.
