Three men in a tub. Cruising trio?

Filed under: Blog — Tags: cruising, three, trio, tub. — @ 1:30 pm February 3, 2012

Question by Chris H: Three men in a tub. Cruising trio?
I have cruised twice with HAL when there were three of us in a suite. HAL used to advertise for a third guest, but I no longer see that in their promotions. Do all cruise lines have “deals” when a third person is involved? I realize that I need to reserve a suite, but does the third person pay the same price? The deal on HAL was great..I only paid taxes for the third person and we had a great suite.

Answer by RoofingPrincess
You will find lower rates for the third and fourth person in just about any cabin that will accommodate them on just about every cruise line. Not just suites, even inside cabins.
Rarely if ever, though, will you find a deal where someone sails for no fare and only pays the taxes and fees.

Cruising Along the Endless South American Pacific Coast

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: american, coast, cruising, endless, pacific, south — libertees @ 1:08 pm December 28, 2011

With an area of 6,890,000 square miles and bordered by the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and the Caribbean Sea, the South American coastline seems almost endless. As the continent is composed of over a dozen unique countries all offering exotic climate, terrain, and cultures, South America is an attractive cruising destination. From dry deserts to tropical rain forests to even cold mountainous air originating from the Andes, South American climate is not constant everywhere. Cruising along the Pacific coastline introduces a sailor to attractive port cities in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Chile.

After leaving behind the adventures of the Caribbean and carefully navigating your boat compass southwards, the first popular sailing destination is Colombia. Considered to be one of the most attractive cities in South America, the coastal city of Cartagena de Indias welcomes many vacationing sailors each year. This colonial city is rich with history, architecture, and shopping opportunities. Its climate is constant with warm and humid temperatures. The city also offers opportunities to visit parks and enjoy ecological trips, engage in water sports, and explore the exciting night life. With plenty of museums, walking tours, and other attractions available, sailors and their families will always find entertainment in Cartagena de Indias.

Sailing just southwest of Colombia brings one to the Ecuadorian coast which reaches from the Andes to the Pacific. Although smaller in size, Ecuador possesses diversity in climate and in its current renewal process. This diversity is illustrated in the city of Guayaquil which lies on the western bank of the Guayas River. Almost 3 million people reside in Guayaquil where the it is also home to the largest shipping port on the Pacific Coast of the continent. Offering hot and humid temperatures throughout the year, Guayaquil is very much similar to Cartagena in its climate. In an attempt to restore the city from past fires, Guayaquil is going through gradual renovation that aims to supply various opportunities for tourists to enjoy themselves. However, history is still preserved in the colonial district of “Las Peñas”, in its various museums, and in the botanical gardens. While it continues it rejuvenation, Guayaquil will be a fascinating new destination to dock at in the coming years.

About 150 miles from Peru’s capital of Lima, lies Paracas also known as “The Galapagos of Peru”. This sailing destination is made up of 700,000 acres of rugged shoreline, desert, and mountains. Paracas is the epitome of an eclectic vacation spot as it offers all different attractions including wildlife, spas, and museums documenting Pre-Incan history. For those sailors with a soft spot for animals, National Reserve is a must-see as it houses several various types of wildlife such as sea lions, birds, and much more. Another attraction is the Spa of Paracas for those sailors looking for relaxation; this spa is just a few miles from the main city. With numerous unique activities to engage in, Paracas is one sailing destination no sailor should miss out on.

Closing in on the Pacific Coast of South America is Chile with almost 2,700 miles of coastline. The country’s climate and temperatures greatly varies depending on the particular location since Chile spans across 2,700 miles. With this said, the country’s climate is diverse with desert, subtropical, and tundra conditions so it is best to dress appropriately with Harken apparel. Before sailing to off to Patagonia or Cape Horn, sailors also dock at Puerto Montt, a port city in southern Chile. The city also acts as a transport center to Lake District and the island of Chiloé. Like the others, the city of Puerto Montt has a wide selection of attractions including national parks, museums, and day trips to islands. Sailors choose this city to dock at because of it entertainment and its proximity to other islands such as Cape Horn.

The Pacific Coast of South America offers the best sailing vacation destinations in Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and Chile. Marked with rich and exotic history, architecture, recreational activities, shopping, and food, sailors and their families can fully enjoy their vacation with these South American cities.

Travel Sickness Expert Offers Puma Method to Guarantee Carefree Holiday Cruising

Filed under: Blog — Tags: Carefree, cruising, Expert, Guarantee, holiday, Method, offers, Puma, Sickness, travel — @ 1:30 pm November 24, 2011

Winchester, CA (PRWEB) November 23, 2011

The cruise industry is growing even in these trying economic times. The Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association forecasts 16 million individuals world wide will choose a cruise vacation in 2011, a 6.6% increase over last year. Many of these vacationers, especially those going on their first cruise, are concerned about the potential of experiencing seasickness. In fact, fear of getting this type of motion sickness is probably the number one reason that many vacationers who love to travel do not cruise. They know the nausea, stomach cramps and vomiting that characterize travel sickness will certainly put a damper on any cruise fun.

Thankfully, most people don?t get sick on cruise ships. Big vessels don?t move around nearly as much as small boats. But, it is smart to be prepared, according to CruiseSavvy.com, especially if you are sensitive to travel sickness on land or have not cruised before. One of the most effective ways to do this is with the Puma Method for Prevention of Motion Sickness exercises.

These exercises raise a person?s tolerance to the movement aboard a ship as well as a variety of motion sickness producing activities, such as reading in a moving vehicle, riding in a small boat or flying in an airplane. The mild head, neck and upper body exercises stimulate the body?s own mechanism, called habituation, to boost a person?s tolerance to motion sickness causing activities. No drugs or devices are used, so there are never any negative side effects. The exercises take only about 15 minutes a day. Conditioning starts right away and in as little as one week a person can begin to enjoy activities that used to make them feel ill. This new level of conditioning is automatically maintained as the individual participates in these new activities. The Puma Method exercises do not need to be continued unless a higher level of conditioning is desired.

?The best way to deal with seasickness is to actually prevent the symptoms,? states Dr. Sam Puma, president of Puma Applied Science and developer of the Puma Method. ?To date the Puma Method has been just about 100% effective for those who follow the program so, why even worry about the possibility of becoming ill? Even a mild concern about seasickness can detract from the overall enjoyment of a cruise. Today?s cruise ships offer a new generation of on board features and a world of innovations including surf pools, planetariums, demonstration kitchens, and on-deck LED movie screens. The Puma Method will allow vacationers to enjoy every aspect of their cruise experience.?

Those interested in learning more about all types of travel sickness including seasickness, airsickness, carsickness, cybersickness and space sickness, and the Puma Method for Prevention of Motion Sickness can visit pumamethod.com.

Founded in 1995 by Dr. Sam C. Puma, Puma Applied Science is a privately held research and development company specializing in aerospace medical concerns, human factors, and life support systems. It was through Dr. Puma?s 36 years of experience as a physician in the aerospace industry that he developed and perfected his method for the prevention of motion sickness.

The company introduced the Puma Method for Prevention of Motion Sickness in 2003. Other projects under development are a high acceleration aircraft to gather data on gravity-induced loss of consciousness and an associated sensor, and a hands free computer interface for persons with disabilities.

Cruising Tips

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: cruising, tips — libertees @ 1:03 pm November 20, 2011

First thing to note down is the identification that you need when boarding as different companies have different requirements.

You may have special dietary requirements, some agents will ask this when booking but if they do not then be sure to ring up and inform them straight away. Some will ask for 60 days notice for such requirements so double check that you tell them in time.  It is a good idea to leave a copy of your passport, tickets and any credit cards or travellers cheques you are taking with you so if anything happened you have copies as a back-up.

If you are travelling far then you may need injections and immunisations to travel. Consult your booking agent for advice on this and get your appointments booked as soon as possible. With the uncertainty that can surround holidays it is always a good idea to phone up 24 hours before to make sure that everything is running on time as you do not want to have to wait around for hours and hours.

When you receive your cruise documents take time to go through them and check all the details. One of the most common mistakes made is misspelling a surname that could end up costing you a lot of money.

Leave the ships information and contact details with friends or family in case of emergency and you need to be contacted. This information will normally come with the tickets but if not they will be on the companies website. One thing people worry about is if you book and air/sea package and you miss the ship because of a delayed or cancelled flight, if this happens don’t worry as the cruise line will get you to the next port.

Make sure you get to the embarkation point at least 2 hours before you are due to set sail. There will be security methods to go through so give yourself plenty of time.  If you can complete embarkation procedures online then do so as this will save you a lot of time.  Wherever you are travelling to enjoy your cruise and take care onboard and enjoy all the activities that go on there.

Harbour of Light Parade – Cruising into the New Year

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: cruising, harbour, light, parade, year — libertees @ 1:03 am November 8, 2011

New Year’s Eve is the one celebration that the whole of Sydney plans for, prepares for, and anticipates for a whole year. Soon after the celebrations of a New Year’s Eve conclude, the arrangements for the next year begin, and sometimes even before.

Sydney New Year’s Eve events include aerial displays, Family Fireworks at 9 p.m., the Harbour of Light Parade and the Midnight Fireworks. The 9 p.m. Family Fireworks is a well planned and synchronized event with fireworks being launched from the barges on the Sydney Harbour, and the display seems almost magical with its pyrotechnic effects. A fleet of handsome, majestic-looking vessels, about 55 in number, will take part in the Harbour of Light Parade which has ropelight design as its chosen theme this year. The Midnight Fireworks is a spectacular show with synchronized fireworks set off from barges, from the rooftops of surrounding high-rise buildings and from umpteen strategic locations on the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Almost all of the above events are best watched from aboard a cruise boat on the Sydney Harbour! And if the cruise boat is also a participant of the Harbour of Light Parade, it would be all the more exciting, as this would facilitate watching the events from the exclusion zone and from the best of vantage points, not to mention experiencing the thrill and excitement of being part of the parade.

Some of the best cruise options available are provided by the Magistic Cruises and Sydney Showboats. Their boats are known for their magnificent designs, unmatchable ambience, quality dining atmosphere, exceptional menus and ultimate comfort. Guests have seats reserved for them which allow them to sit back and relax or stroll around, absorbing the spectacular view, as and when they please! The Sydney Harbour Ballroom and the Simply Magistic cruises are not only the best party cruises available around the Sydney Harbour, but also the best party options available in Sydney. Dance right into the New Year in the setting of a most amazingly lit up Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House and many other famous landmarks against the backdrop of a sky lit up by a collage of the most beautiful of  hues!

Only a Harbour of Light Parade cruise can take you to the centre of the whole excitement, letting you soak in the thrill of the celebration, befittingly bidding adieu to the year that’s gone and ardently welcoming the New Year. The extensive outdoor decks of the Magistic Cruises and the Sydney Showboats allow a free and uninterrupted view of the amazing and brilliant outcome of a year of immaculate planning and uncompromised efforts of many to bring about the ‘bridge effect’ with such incredible precision. So get your passes, if you have not got them already, and cruise into the most memorable night ever!

VACATION CRUISING >>>> Discussing the Basics of Cheap Cruises

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: basics, cheap, cruises, cruising, discussing, vacation — libertees @ 1:04 pm November 5, 2011

To go further, this article will take a closer look of the basic components of cheap cruises. What really makes cruises “cheap?” What should the customer expect to pay on this kind of deal and what should they get in return for their payment?

There are several forms of components that make up cheap cruises. Here are the following factors that affects the price of cruises.

•  Fundamental Cruise Cost

The price of the cruises will involve some adjustment and accommodation. Most of the cheap cruises only offer a minimum amount of on-board entertainment and recreation activities. On the other hand, there are also some cruising companies that offer cheaper facilities and accommodations, activities on the ship.

•  Some fees on port tax and toll

Normally, the fees and other charges of different ports are affecting the prices of the cheap cruises. The cheap cruises basically have a line on these fees in regards to the payments passengers makes.

There are also some cheap cruises that do not cover the passenger fare with these fees. On the other hand, most of the cheap cruises collect the parking fees from their passengers beforehand. For example, if there 20 passengers inside the ship, the authority of the shipping line will impose a head tax procedure.

The parking fee of the ship goes to the implementing officials of the port. The funds collected will be used to maintain and improve the ports’ infrastructures, services and other activities.

•  Summing up with the Airfare cost

There are some cheap cruises shipping line that offers an Air and Sea Program. This program will allocate the passenger from the home city of the passenger to the port area.

In many ways, the passenger who avail this kind of program will be given extra services. The cruises will offer the customer the handling of baggage and free transportation from the airport to the seaport.

Aside from that, cheap cruises that have Air and Sea Programs will assist the customer in finding discounted hotels and meals.

Now, there are many cheap cruises out there just waiting for you to come aboard. Most of them say that even if they are cheap they still offer world-class services. Choosing the appropriate cheap cruises is hard to do. Here are some basic things to be considered in selecting the best cheap cruises.

•  Availing a cheap cost of cruise does not mean that it must have low-class type of service. The ship must give the customer extra space for suites and rooms. It would be great if the sleeping area and sitting room were located on the separate area. There are some cheap cruise ships were the rooms are only on standard cabins and has no balcony. Choose the cruise liner that has larger bedrooms and bathrooms. In other words, inspecting the boat prior to a trip would be the best thing to do.

•  Beware of the cheap cruises that cancel the effectiveness of insurance. Remember, by canceling the insurance the customer is not covered by its benefits in case of illness and accidents during the cruise.

•  Read and understand the cheap cruise advertisement, pamphlets and flyers carefully. There are some advertisements that are only persuading the customers with so many juicy details and copy writing and yet are not true. The actual price must not be hidden.

•  Avoid the lead-in prices. Most of the cheap prices are only intended to catch the attention of the potential customers. Consider the prices and the accommodation. A low priced cruise vacation must not have disgusting rooms and cabins. The price must not only be offered to the chosen residents or only for senior citizens.

•  Be aware of the regulations of several traveling agencies. As much as possible compare the prices of several cruising services.

Make the cheap cruises a little more enjoyable. Make sure to bring along some extra money for some expenses.  As an advice, secure your safety first.  Do not just settle on any cheap cruises. Researching can be a good idea. So when all things are done, packed up all of the baggage and enjoy cruising. For more info, please visit VACATION CRUISING
