Idyllic Eastern, Western & Southern Caribbean Cruises

Article by Cindy Heller

The winter season affects our mood and if you feel like getting out of the rut, an eastern Caribbean cruise might be the cure. That what your physician might prescribe; a trip to energize and restore you to the usual vibrant self again. At times the cold, harsh winter makes you feel less lively but the sun soak Caribbean will reinvigorate you.

If there is a lack of vibrancy in your life, consider a cruise vacation to the eastern Caribbean and that might restore you. The idyllic and beauty of the eastern Caribbean islands has so much to offer, not just to relax and revitalize but adding the zest that is missing at the moment.

Lacking a focus in your life and negativity creeps in but a vacation to the eastern Caribbean island will take your mind of it as you will be too busy enjoying the cruise to think about it. The charm of the local, beguiling sights of the islands, sun basked beaches and the fun-filled activities will make you forget the dull, monotonous routine that have engulfed your life. Once done with the cruise, you will want to consider a second trip.

The trip can be by yourself or with your folks but an eastern Caribbean cruise will have everything for everyone. Plenty of entertainment such as casino, shopping, dancing to live music and be treated like royalty by crew members serving you meal and drinks when you are lounging by the deck pool. The cruise can be for just a few days to weeks, depending on how long you want to be pampered.

Do not hesitate; book you ticket right now and have the cruise of a lifetime as there are just about every package for all budget types. Caribbean is a world away from your monotonous and dull existence and a cruise to re-energize your spirit and soul as well as your body.

On the other hand a western Caribbean cruise can offer just as much. Majority of the Caribbean cruise liners provide the cruise to western Caribbean as it is very popular with vacationers. Among the benefits are the opportunity to tour various islands and partake in their history with locations such as Mexico and South America and occasional ports of Key West and New Orleans.

Get ready the necessary documentations as you will require it and now majority of the cruise liners requested for it to deal ahead with the modification of the travel laws from 2008. From there, you can check up the offer for western Caribbean cruise by checking up the places you will like to stop over as well as the right vessel for you.

Majority of the cruise liners strictly abide by a quality standard in service and dining but they have different packages for diverse types of travelers. For instant if you are bringing along the kids, then check up one which has plenty of activities centered on them

It is necessary to plan ahead to avoid disappointment, for instant, the types of programs they offer and the appropriate type of attires to bring along. Both formal and casual wears are necessary and some vessels require you to adhere to strict dress codes. Check with the western Caribbean cruise liner and pack accordingly. A sturdy and comfortable shoes is essential for the trip to the islands, thus with sufficient preparation, you can enjoy your cruise to the western Caribbean with assurance.

You can seek romance and bask in the sun on the beautiful beaches for your southern Caribbean cruise. Similar to the eastern and western Caribbean cruises, you will be treated like royalty. All sort of entertainment will be on offer on the southern Caribbean cruise and you will get plenty of meal, beverages, music and activities. Like-minded people seeking romance just like you and you might find your companion onboard.

Get rid of your inhibitions as everybody will be just like you and with plenty of activities on the southern Caribbean cruise organized around couples, you will have a partner for all programs. Most will be unknown to you but that where your journey begins on your search for a partner.

After the entire introduction and mixing around, you can spend time with the special someone on a dining date. As the vessel is so huge, with plenty of private dining areas; it just likes your personal yacht. You can also spend time exploring the idyllic islands. Take in the sights; mix with the charming local, shop for souvenir you’re your chosen companion. You may never know that it will spark a romance to last a lifetime, so let loose of the inhibitions and enjoy yourself fully on the southern Caribbean cruise.

P&O Cruises Launches Specially Commissioned Book to Celebrate 175 Year Heritage

Filed under: Blog — Tags: book, Celebrate, Commissioned, cruises, heritage, Launches, Specially, year — @ 1:30 pm February 28, 2012

(PRWEB) February 08, 2012

Looking forward, P&O Cruises has a bright future with yet another new ship on the horizon and this new book celebrates the remarkable history and future of the line, combining British innovation with glamour and service excellence.

The book, by Sharon Poole and Andrew Sassoli-Walker, covers the history of the company since 1837, when the Peninsular Steam Navigation Company won a lucrative mail contract to the Iberian Peninsula. Not long afterwards the concept of cruising was born and since then has evolved into a mainstream holiday choice.

The authors, keen maritime historians, who have previously published the definitive history of P&O Cruises? Artemis, give a compelling account of the company?s varied and impressive history, highlighting key milestones in the history of P&O Cruises and intriguing personal stories and anecdotes from the early days of first-class cruises in the nineteenth century to Canberra?s crucial role in the 1982 Falklands war, to the current day logistics and running of a major cruise line, and then on to the future with a new ship planned for 2015.

P&O Cruises managing director, Carol Marlow, said: ?We are delighted that this fascinating book will be part of our anniversary celebrations in 2012. We can trace our roots back 175 years and during that time our ships and crews have been at the cutting edge of maritime and cruising innovation, served with distinction in several conflicts, and, most importantly, offered our customers a cruising experience that they have loved, year in and year out. We have seen countless weddings, honeymoons and proposals on board, along with all manner of other remarkable events. It?s excellent to have a book which sheds some light on some of these personal stories, as well as the current day operation of our brand and our ships.?

?The anniversary will be celebrated on 3 July 2012, when for the first time in the company?s history, our entire fleet of seven ships will be docked together for our ?Grand Event? in Southampton. After a spectacular send-off, the ships will form a procession in the Solent as they depart for seven special anniversary cruises.?

Further pivotal moments covered in the book are:

In 1844, P&O ships were offering tourists passages to Gibraltar, Malta, Athens, Constantinople and Egypt, establishing P&O as one of the world?s first cruise companies. In that year, the author William Thackeray was also offered a free voyage ? the first ?press trip? ? if he would write about his experience for the company, bringing welcome publicity to P&O.

In 1904, P&O introduced Vectis as its first full-time cruise ship and in the same year offered its first cruise holiday programme ? a first class only cruise with shore excursions arranged by Thomas Cook.

By the 1920s, cruising had become a huge part of the company?s business and, post-war, the company grew this business on the back of its lucrative ?Ten-Pound Pom? contracts with the Australian government.

In 1929 – P&O launched Viceroy of India, its first turbo electric-powered ship and the first to have an indoor swimming pool.

By 1981, P&O Cruises Canberra was carrying almost half of all cruise passengers from the UK, and in 1982, Canberra ? along with Cunard?s QE2 and the Uganda from P&O Cruises educational cruise brand British India ? was requisitioned by the British Government for the Falklands War.

Post-Falklands, P&O Cruises began to expand with new vessels. Today, the company has seven cruise ships – Adonia, Arcadia, Aurora, Azura, Oceana, Oriana and Ventura. The ships? celebrity godmothers include HM The Queen, HRH The Princess Royal, Dame Kelly Holmes, Dame Helen Mirren, Darcey Bussell CBE and Dame Shirley Bassey.

A further new addition to the fleet is being planned and will be launched in 2015, to cater for the future needs of P&O Cruises passengers.

P&O Cruises: celebrating 175 years of heritage by Sharon Poole and Andrew Sassoli-Walker ?25 ? 978-1-4456-0596-8 ? Paperback.

Princess Cruises ?Inspired to Cruise? Blog Showcases First Five Reasons to Cruise

Filed under: Blog — Tags: blog, cruise, cruises, First, five, Inspired, princess, reasons, Showcases — @ 1:30 pm February 19, 2012

Santa Clarita, Calif. (PRWEB) February 03, 2012

Princess Cruises? new blog, ?Inspired to Cruise: A Year of Reasons to Get Away From the Everyday? has chronicled its first five reasons to cruise, offering readers a collection of intriguing passenger stories about what inspired them to vacation at sea.

With tales of rekindling romance, spoiling grandchildren, getting away with a group of ?princesses,? bonding with kids before they leave the nest, and finding a special way to enjoy an anniversary dance, the blog, found at http://inspiredtocruise.com, illustrates the myriad of reasons people take cruise vacations.

Each week during 2012 the blog will explore the celebrations, accomplishments, milestones and other inspired reasons to cruise, each told by a different passenger. This diverse group of contributors ? from long-time cruisers to those who set sail for the first time ? will share a total of 52 stories throughout the life of the blog.

The first five reasons to cruise are:

Story #5: To Dance with My Husband? Susan Galuski of Annapolis, Maryland tells how she had high hopes of dancing with her husband on their 40th anniversary cruise, but her self-conscious spouse kept putting the moment off. Would he ever ask her to dance?

Story #4: Getting Away with Girlfriends? ?The Royal Order of the Grand Princesses? is the ultimate group of girlfriends who cruise to get away from their daily routines so they can enjoy some pampering and fun. Carol Aldy and Mickey Farmer describe how their group finds their inner ?princesses? and embrace the spirit of fun as they dress up in ?royal? attire and flaunt their princess roles to the hilt as they escape on their yearly cruise together.

Story #3: Spoil the Grandkids ? Pam Carlson of Arlington Heights, Illinois, is a grandmother who has started a family tradition of taking each grandchild on a cruise when they turn 13. In her story, she describes her surprise when granddaughter Catherine picked a cruise to Egypt, and the joy of being able to make memories with her in the land of the pharaohs and throughout their Holy Land cruise in the Mediterranean.

Story #2: Before the Kids Leave the Nest ? Beth Shaw of Dublin, Ohio, is a single mother who cruised to take one last vacation together with her three sons before they ?flew the nest.? She shares her mixed emotions about her sons leaving home and her desire to get away with them one last time before they grew up and moved on. Their Caribbean cruise proved to be the perfect send off for two of the boys, headed to college and the military.

Story #1: Marrying Each Other?Twice ? In the first blog post, Nancy Chamberlain-Fox of Trabuco Canyon, California tells the story of cruising to celebrate the second time she and her husband were married?..after a span of being apart for 27 years. Their love story takes an unexpected turn when they discover that their multi-generational dinner table mates each share the same anniversary date.

Also featured on the blog is a weekly ?Escape Inspiration? video. Each 30-second favorite moment at sea is introduced by a Princess crew member who describes why the scene is meaningful to them. General Tips for Caribbean Cruises

General Tips for Caribbean Cruises

When the air begins to chill and the snow begins to fall, the minds of many flee to warmer places. This is often the perfect time to book one of the dozens of Caribbean cruises that are available. Although booking a cruise may seem easy with the endless options on offer, there are still a few things to keep in mind when you’re picking a destination and a cruise company.

Large Ship versus Small Ship

There are as many advantages to deciding on a large ship voyage as choosing to cruise on a small ship. Large cruise ships may well offer more high-end entertainment such as Broadway shows, contests and tournaments. However, when cruising on a large ship, it takes much longer for passengers to get to and from the shore for land excursions. Passenger transfers to shore can take up to 90 minutes each way.

This consumes valuable shore time. Cruising on a smaller ship may mean less people and quicker transfers.

Shore Excursions

There is no doubt you will want to participate in several, if not many, land excursions. A piece of advice is to book them in advance. The best or most popular shore excursions tend to fill very quickly, usually before the ship even sails. To make sure you get a place on the excursions you want, book them through your travel agent or online. If for some reason you cannot do this prior to the trip, make the effort to be the first in line when the ship’s onboard excursion desk opens. If you have already missed out, you can always request to be added to the waiting list.

Caribbean Towns and Tours

Unlike Europe, most Caribbean towns share a similar feel and look.

If you are at a port of call, your time may be better spent devoted to touring native or special sites rather than touring the towns. Head off on your own if you have to, but seek out the culture, monuments, historical places of interest and even seaside nature sites. The town can be quickly explored on the way back to your ship. This is also true with the type of tours you book. Read the itinerary to make certain a large amount of your valuable shore time is not devoted to more shopping and less sightseeing.

Excursions

Once you begin booking your excursions you may find the costs suddenly adding up. If you’re concerned about the prices, booking independently is an option. It can be a creative way to save a few pounds however, there is something you need to know. When you book the land excursions independently and encounter an issue, such as broken down transportation, the ship may not always wait for you. This means if you’re delayed returning to the ship, you may find it has sailed without you. Passengers who book their land excursions with the ship are given some time to return. If the ship is unable to delay its departure, they will often make free transportation arrangements for you to meet them at the next port of call.
