wadi rum travel advice, why rent guide to wadi rum, wadi rum wild life, things to see and do in wadi rum

Filed under: travel — Tags: advice, guide, life, rent, things, travel, wadi, wild — libertees @ 5:01 pm October 3, 2010

Wadi Rum is a protected area covering 720 square kilometers of dramatic desert wilderness in the south of Jordan. Huge mountains of sandstone and granite emerge, sheer-sided, from wide sandy valleys to reach heights of 1700 meters and more. Narrow canyons and fissures cut deep into the mountains and many conceal ancient rock drawings etched by the peoples of the desert over millennia. Bedouin tribes still live among the mountains of Rum and their large goat-hair tents are a special feature of the landscape.

To see Wadi Rum, you definitely need a 4×4. If you don’t want to get lost, you also need a guide.

According to the Jordanians, the desert at Wadi Rum is the most beautiful in the world. Believe it or not, this place looks GREAT.

Our bedouin guide called this sanddune ‘moving sand’. The meaning of this we discovered when we tried to climb it: one step up, two steps down.

There are many ways to enjoy the attractions of Rum, including jeep, camel and hiking tours and you can stay overnight in a Bedouin tent and gaze at the amazing panoply of stars.

To safeguard its unique desert landscape, Wadi Rum was declared a protected area in1998 and an intensive conservation programme is now underway.

You can explore Wadi Rum in several ways: by jeep, by camel, by horse or on foot. If you want more challenging pursuits like climbing and trekking, see Adventure Seekers.

our iran tour provide us jeep tours to jordan are the quickest way to see the well-known scenic and archaeological sites. There are 19 of these sites of interest and it is possible to visit any combination in a single tour. Tours start from the visitor centre, where you can choose one of 9 tour packages, lasting from 2 hours to full day. Longer trips can be arranged. Most vehicles are pick-up trucks operated by local Bedouin cooperatives. They are characterful and fun but only have modest levels of comfort. Private 4 x 4 vehicles and tour company fleet-vehicles can enter Rum, provided they follow all regulations.

ali sadr water cave travel advice, hamedan and alisadr cave iran tourist attractions and travel guide

Filed under: travel — Tags: advice, alisadr, attractions, cave, guide, hamedan, iran, sadr, tourist, travel, Water — libertees @ 4:59 pm September 23, 2010

The Alisadr Caves are located about 75 kilometers north of Hamadan. After one in the USA and one in Indonesia, it is the largest cave in the world. And according to our guide, the one in America doesn’t have water in it, so that one doesn’t count.

Because there is water in the caves, the tour is by boat. These boats are pulled by watercycles. Of all the surprises we had in Iran, the idea of waterpedaling was probably the least expected.

impressive ali sard water cave tours is unforgetable. We expected there would be more, so we started looking for them, but it was the only one we discovered.

In the caves, there are of course a lot of stalactites and stalagmites. Erosion by the water, that sometimes had a higher level, has created some strange effects.

Halfway of the tour we could get out of the boat and do a bit of walking on one of the so-called islands. The cave reaches a height of 40 meters here and looks absolutely fabulous.

Then, we go back into the boats. We take a different route and see many other spectacular rock-formations.

The cave walls can extend up to 40 meters high, and it contains several large, deep lakes. The cave has a river flowing through it and most travel through the cave system is done with a boat. More than 11 kilometers of the cave’s water canals have been discovered so far. Some routes are 10 to 11 kilometers long and all lead to the ‘Island’.

Excavations and archeological studies of the cave have led to the discovery of ancient artworks, jugs and pitchers dating back to 12000 years ago. The animals, hunting scenes and bows and arrows depicted on the walls and passages of the exit section, suggest primitive man used the cave as their abode. The cave was known during the reign of Darius I (521-485 BC) which can be verified by an old inscription at the entrance of the tunnel. However, the knowledge of the existence of the 70 million-year old cave was lost, and only rediscovered in 1963 by Iranian mountaineers (or 1978 when a local shepherd followed the tunnel searching for water or a lost goat).

This cave is located at 48°18′E 35°18′N, in the southern part of Ali Sadr village. The cave digs into a hill called Sari Ghiyeh which also includes two other caves called Sarab and Soubashi, each 7 and 11 kilometers away from Ali Sadr Cave. Apparently the water in Ali Sadr cave is supplied by a spring in Sarab.

In the summer of 2001, a German/British expedition surveyed the cave to be 11 kilometers long[3]. The main chamber of the cave is 100 meters by 50 meters and 40 meters high.

A tour of the cave can be seen by pedal boats to a centrally located large atrium.

Travel Advice 101: Money-Wise Trips

Filed under: travel — Tags: advice, MoneyWise, travel, trips — libertees @ 5:05 pm September 13, 2010

In these very uncertain economic times, where fuel prices are pumping up and other necessities are unbelievably expensive, traveling is just a leisure that doesn’t jive well with the daily budget. However, everyone is entitled to unwind and go on a vacation to escape the very demanding and busy day to day schedule from work and home. Studies have shown that people can tolerate only a certain amount of enduring pressure, pain and anxiety from the stress of daily living. As such, the doctor’s dictum of “taking a few days off” is not just a cliché to overstressed workers: it’s a very physical fact with concrete roots in science and medicine. However, despite the necessity of taking annual vacations, there should also be a limit to spending on getaways.

As such, here are some useful tips to pack along with your stuff, before you head off on your annual break:

WALK THE WALK. You are not only saving money, but you’re saving your health too. Instead of riding a cab on a trip or renting a car, if you chose an accommodation that is near the attractions you want to visit, I suggest you start walking. Besides, it’s best to take pictures while walking than riding in a car. However, if you chose not to walk, I also recommend rent your own car than pay ridiculous riding fee from airport shuttles. USE THE HOTEL WISELY. Although the main point of going on a vacation is allowing your mind to rest while checking beautiful sites, enjoying the benefits of your accommodation by staying in place doesn’t hurt also. For example, if you’re a parent who travels with kids, remember that kids love playing in the water and hotels have the best swimming pools so take advantage of that. Getting sandy at the beach or visiting a nearby museum would also be a cheap way to enjoy the getaway.

PLAN AHEAD. Vacations come only once in a while, so you may as well plan for it instead of doing everything at the last minute. Reserving accommodations and tickets well in advance can help save money and avoid further stress. Many airlines and hotels offer early-bird discounts, so try to book at least two months before your scheduled trip to snag those promos.

BRING WATER. It might seem like added baggage, but bringing your own water can help save a lot of money. Remember that in tourist spots, even these items can be pricey. There are even some destinations where the quality of water may be suspect, and bottled water fetches a premium price for unsuspecting tourists. In contrast, water and sports bottles can be refilled at the hotel or fountain stations while visiting different attractions, saving unneeded expenses and rubbish. These are just some of the tips you can take with you in your next holiday, so you can save up while cooling down. Although some might be common, don’t take those tips for granted because you’ll never know when you’ll need them.

Ten Travel Advice For Parents With Little Kids

Filed under: travel — Tags: advice, kids, Little, Parents, travel — libertees @ 5:08 pm September 3, 2010

Holidays are just around the corner. If you are a parent traveling with kids, your trips is potential for trouble? It can be nerve-racking, right? Not if you know how to organize and deal with it.

Here are ten effective steps for parents going on trips with their munchkins:

1. Before actually packing, preparing, and getting ready to travel, the solution to a less stressful tour with your toddler is to arrange and get organized as much as you can. Getting prepared involves having lists as nothing beats having it planned and reviewable in a small pad or some organizer.

2. Make a list of things to buy. When on the plane, you are permitted to bring stuff up to a definite extent and principally with food these days, there are lots of precautionary issues. Place those seemingly petty products in your list of groceries and check it off.

3. Jot down all the stuff that you put in your bags as well as the things that you have packed for your children.

4. Have a suitcase for all of the traveling children meant for the airplane ride. Also, you may want to pack a bag for each of your kids to carry.

5. The objects that are put inside your little kids’ carry bags are supposed to be entertaining, inexpensive, and not heavy for your kids to bring with them. The idea here is to have things that will keep the kids engaged or interested while on the airplane – examples of these are writing materials, small toys, books, and even a small colorful bracelet.

6. Never forget to put your name and phone number on each and every luggage, including your children’s bags.

7. Prepare a “surprise bag” for the children on the airplane. Do not bring out any object in that “surprise bag” or expose anything about that special bag to the children before the exact instance of the plane ride. The objects inside that “surprise bag” are the stuff you have personally selected; the things that you know that will grab your children’s interest while on the trip. As the name itself implies, it will be a luggage that will be a complete surprise for young ones once on the plane.

8. Ready-to-eat snacks for your children must always be handy.

9. Beverage containers commonly provided by airlines and other establishments are crude and may easily tip over. This is flirting with disaster. So, make sure that you carry a sippy cup with you. Having a sippy cup with you, you can transfer drinks onto it, thus decreasing your worries of spillage and potential mess.

10. You should dress your kids with comfortable clothing. Do not make them wear special clothing that you would like grandma to see them in. Many things can take place in an airplane and they are kids for crying out loud.

Most importantly, have your travels insured especially when traveling with your family. If your family will have several travels in a span of one year, you can avail annual family travel insurance to save money on travel insurance. Always keep in mind that you can only get the best family holiday insurance if you do an extensive travel insurance comparison so shop around for great deals!
