NANAIMO – If a hotel ever goes up next to Nanaimo’s new conference centre, it won’t be built by Millennium Development Corporation. The company’s bid on the job expires a week from today and Nanaimo city council is not willing to give an extension. “They’ve expressed an interest to continue on,” Mayor John Ruttan said of the company. “At this stage unless there’s an 11th hour change, it will terminate on March 31st.” Ruttan says there’s still interest in the project – this week another investor made a “preliminary inquiry” about building a smaller hotel on the site.
